Painted Corrugated Metal Roofing & Siding Panels - SMP Paint Finish

Silicone Modified Polyester (SMP) painted corrugated metal panels are available in 7/8" Corrugated, R Panel/PBR Panel, and Western Rib/7.2 Panel. SMP is a mid level paint system that's a good value for your money,  cost less, and is a lesser quality paint system when compared to PVDF painted panels.

Are SMP Corrugated Metal Panels Right For You?

When you're deciding upon a metal roofing color an important decision is which type of paint system to use. There are two paint systems that are used regularly on corrugated metal, SMP and PVDF. Choosing between the two systems is a balancing act between price and performance.

Silicone Modified Polyester

Think of this as the good, better, best model. Polyester paints which are rarely used are good, SMP is better, and PVDF is best.

The main advantage of SMP painted panels is they will cost less and are available in lighter gauges. The main disadvantage is that they have less resistance to UV exposure and will fade and chalk at a greater rate.

SMP Painted Panels Are Best If:

  • Commercial or agricultural projects
  • Exposed fastener panels in a 26 gauge
  • Have a smaller budget and are looking for the least expensive painted corrugated metal.
  • Neutral and earth tone colors such as white, tan, and beige. Color fade is less noticeable on lighter colors.
